Social enterprise Hey Girls – who work to develop environmentally friendly period products – have started the #Pads4Dads campaign which aims to encourage men to feel more confident speaking to their daughters about menstruation and join ‘the bloody conversation’. According to Refinery 29, new research from Hey Girls, found that nearly half of dads surveyed have never spoken to their daughters about periods, while fewer than half (41%) would feel comfortable talking about them to their kids. The campaign aims to destigmatise the conversation about periods amongst men and features a video starring actor Michael Sheen.

During the Spring Statement today, Philip Hammond announced that sanitary products are to be given out for free in secondary schools across England from September. According to the article published in The Telegraph, the move followed concern from headteachers that girls are missing school because they cannot afford sanitary products. School leaders welcomed the move, with the National Association for Head saying it was “the right thing to do”.
