With almost 3.5 million women in the UK suffering from menorrhagia (heavy periods), it’s no surprise that NICE (The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) recognise that heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) has a major impact on a woman’s quality of life, and that the condition should be taken seriously and treated in a timely manner.
A survey carried out by Wear White Again has revealed that as many as 62% of women do not realise that HMB is a treatable condition and 49% have not spoken to you, their GP, about this. So with the support of leading physicians, we have created this short informative guide to help you better understand how to identify heavy menstrual bleeding and how best you can advise those living with HMB.
Help us raise awareness of heavy menstrual bleeding, a condition that affects more than 1 in 5 women in the UK. Our toolkit, available to you for free, includes a poster for your clinic, a heavy period questionnaire and a period dairy, both of which you can share with your patient to monitor and track their periods.
